125,000-Student District Rolls Out Online Assessments to 183 Schools

A Florida public school district with almost 200 schools has deployed an assessment platform to help target areas where students are in need of improvement.

Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville has selected LearningStation's cloud-based School Insight.

School Insight allows teachers to develop standards and Common Core-aligned tests and formative assessments. Students can complete assessments on paper, bubble sheets, with student response devices, on interactive whiteboards, or on mobile devices and tablets such as iPads. The platform also creates progress reports to help schools identify specific areas where additional study might be needed for individual students, classes, and schools.

So far, the district has given more than 10,000 tests, including approximately 90,000 questions, using School Insight.

Additional features of School Insight include:

  • Viewing of results while tests are still in progress;
  • Immediate feedback;
  • Aligned resources that provide additional content to help students improve;
  • Data saved to a central repository;
  • Grouping of students based on assessment results; and
  • Individual log-in access for administrators, teachers, and students.

"LearningStation is proud to support a forward thinking school district such as Duval County. It was fantastic to work with their administrators to create a solution that suits their needs and assist them in meeting their assessment vision," said LearningStation CEO Jim Kirchner.

Duval County Schools teaches more than 125,000 students in 104 elementary schools, 24 middle schools, 19 high schools, one virtual school, seven alternative schools, and 21 charter schools. The district also has three exceptional centers.
