Shmoop Updates Teacher Guides
A digital curriculum and test prep publisher has made changes and additions to its teacher guides. Available now, Shmoop provides online resources for teaching Common Core, literature, United States history, civics, economics, and learning digital literacy.
Shmoop content is written mainly by Ph.D. and master's degree students from Stanford University and University of California, Berkeley. Teacher guides include activities and assignments, reading quizzes, current events and pop culture articles, discussion and essay questions by theme, challenges and opportunities, and related readings. Lessons use humor, current events, and pop culture.
Shmoop literature learning guides include The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, Hamlet, Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Twilight, Causes of the Civil War, Great Depression, Mark Twain, Stairway to Heaven, and Like a Prayer. Learning guides are also available for algebra, calculus, biology, music, bestsellers, civics, U.S. history, poetry, biography, pre-algebra, and economics.
New teacher guide features include:
- Additional quizzes and activities for some teacher guides, such as Macbeth, Of Mice and Men, and The Great Gatsby;
- A new vocabulary section for each guide; and
- Improvements to existing activities.
One-year licenses for teacher guides are available for $10.66, and group rates are available for school districts.
