Illinois District Seeks Education Edge with Data Warehouse

A two-campus district in Gurnee, IL has invested $180,000 in a data warehouse system. Warren Township High School, District #121, with about 4,500 students, signed a contract with DecisionEd for use of applications to perform data management, analytics, and reports. Acquisition of the new system was approved in June 2013 as part of the schools' strategic plan.

"After a lengthy and thorough vetting process we are excited to have selected DecisionEd to assist us in our data analysis needs," said Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services and Personnel Wileen Gehrig. "With data becoming a more integral part of our teaching and learning, we are looking forward to partnering with DecisionEd."

DecisionEd's software is customized for education and works with IBM Cognos to generate dashboards and reports. The idea is to allow various departments to view, analyze, and share relevant data across multiple data sources for a district-wide view of student, school, program, and district performance.

Other districts that are using DecisionEd products include San Jose Unified School District in California and the School District of New Berlin in Wisconsin. Both have implemented the software in 2013.
