Discovery Introduces Techbook App

Discovery Education today announced the launch of a new iPad app for its Science Techbook series. The Discovery Education Techbook app is available for free download on the App Store in the U.S. and Canada. The app is designed to enable educators and students with an active Science Techbook account to access and interact with Discovery Education's digital textbook content in locations without Internet access. Through the app, users can download the interactive Techbook content they need when they have an Internet connection, and that content will remain available to students anywhere they take their device. The app also supports school administrators managing Internet bandwidth by obviating the need for constant connectivity in the classroom.

Emma Haygood, an eighth-grade physical science teacher at Berrien Springs Middle School, said, “Now, because I can have all the content my class needs to complete their work downloaded to devices before they leave school, I can give my students digital assignments to complete outside the classroom, regardless of their Internet access beyond our campus.”

The Discovery Education Science Techbook series is currently available for K-8 science and high school courses including Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, and Physics. Techbooks include video, digital simulations and explorations, virtual and hands-on labs, and an interactive glossary featuring animations and audio and video. Discovery Education also includes customized professional development along with the Techbook series.
