Kennedale Shifts District Data Management To Save Money

A Texas district is shifting its administration and management functions to a different company in a five-year agreement. Kennedale Independent School District is joining a number of other districts in the state to use TEAMS software from Prologic Technology Systems. That integrated application provides modules for K-12 finance, human resources, time and attendance, student information management, parent and employee self-service, scheduling, online enrollment, substitute management, asset management, budgeting, purchasing and online employment applications.

"I'm a firm believer that the more you can standardize, the better," said Rick Edwards, the associate superintendent of technology services for the district. Edwards' group evaluated the programs from three vendors, all of which offered a similar feature set. But cost was the deciding factor. "TEAMS offered all the functionality we saw with the other enterprise solutions and then some — at a price that that was surprisingly under what we had been paying for our old system," he said.

TEAMS delivers its services from the cloud as a managed service and charges a monthly fee. All data for every module in use by a district or school is maintained in a single database.

Among the districts in Texas that have used TEAMS are Plano, Lubbock, Tyler and Arlington.
