LA Unified To Offer Emergency Response Apps

Earthquakes, pandemics, wild fires, severe weather, terrorism, utility outages and floods appear at the top of the list for Los Angeles Unified School District's (LAUSD) emergency management response concerns. To provide guidance to people facing those emergencies and others, the district is adopting an emergency preparedness mobile app.

In Case of Crisis from Irving Burton Associates (IBA) provides a way for the district to publish its emergency response procedures and make the instructions available on users' Apple, Android and Amazon Kindle mobile devices. LA Unified will offer multiple versions (some in Spanish) for faculty and staff, parents, students and the larger district community. The apps include access to a library of 85 emergency scenarios with templates and images, which will be customized for the district.

"We are thrilled to serve the Los Angeles Unified School District as a partner in bringing critical emergency management plans and procedures to their vast communities via mobile devices," said IBA General Manager Christopher Britton. "Each school district has unique needs and we look forward to working hand in hand with LAUSD to implement a customizable, secure solution that comprehensively supports immediate access to readiness, response and recovery plans."
