Imagine Learning has partnered with Scantron in an effort to improve individualized instruction.
Imagine Learning provides "focused language and literacy software for students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade," according to a news release. Its products include Imagine Learning and Imagine Learning Spanish, which feature illustrations and animations, touchscreen optimization, student progress tracking, contextualized practice and interchangeability between Chromebooks, iPads, Macs and PCs.
The addition of Scantron's Performance Series Reading assessment, which will automatically launch on a schedule set by the school, is designed to provide "an independent, valid and reliable growth measure" to track student learning, according to information released by the companies.
Performance Series assessments are adaptive, adjusting each online test to individual students' abilities, posing more difficult questions as they provide correct responses and easier ones as they answer incorrectly. The assessments can also be aligned to Common Core, state standards or a blend of standards.
"Scantron is committed to advancing language and literacy development through opportunities like this where our flexible, highly individualized assessment solutions help pinpoint instructional needs of diverse student populations like English language learners, beginning students, and struggling readers," said Jay Whitchurch, executive vice president at Scantron, in a prepared statement. "Our process for item development and detailed, skill level reporting aligned to Common Core, specific state, or a combination of standards is what makes us a leader in the diagnostic assessment space. We are delighted to ally with Imagine Learning and support school districts across the country."
