Palm Beach County SD Deploys Procurement Software
Palm Beach County School District
(PBCSD) has launched a new procurement solution as part of the school district's
New Marketplace initiative.
The district's purchasing department handles procurement of products and
services for PBCSD. According to information on the district's site, the
department fosters fair and open competition between suppliers to ensure that
contracts are awarded equitably and economically and that products and services
are delivered in a timely manner. To support this mission, the department needed
a procurement system that would enable "teachers, coaches, bookkeepers and other
school district employees to find and purchase the items they need quickly and
easily in order to save time and money," said Sharon Swan, director of
purchasing for the district, in a prepared statement.
The district selected the
from BuyerQuest. According to information on the company's site, the software
enables users to shop supplier catalogs, submit purchase requisitions, approve
purchases and order products and services, and the system produces a purchase
order. Suppliers can also access the system to load their catalogs, add sale
information and update product information, so district staff have access to the
most current supplier information. "It's a showcase of information for our staff
and it looks great," said Swan in a prepared statement.
The eProcurement software works with enterprise resource planning (ERP)
software, so once the purchase order has been produced through eProcurement,
staff in the district's purchasing department can receive orders and pay
suppliers through the ERP system.
