Data Collection Technology Awards Open, Offer $5,000 Prizes

Vernier and the National Science Teachers Association have opened up applications for their annual technology awards, recognizing innovative use of data collection technology in the classroom.

Nominees should be prepared to share their unique uses of data collection devices, which could be anything from graphing calculators to handheld meters and instruments to mobile devices.

In all, one elementary teacher, two middle school teachers, three high school teachers, and one college-level instructor will win awards, which include $1,000 in cash, $3,000 in Vernier products, and up to $1,500 toward expenses to attend the annual NSTA National Conference in Chicago next March. Winners will be selected by a panel of experts assembled by the NSTA.

Last year, winners focused on exploring friction, testing rocket prototypes, building alternative energy systems, and high-altitude ballooning challenges.

Applications are due by November 30.
