Awesome Stories Unveils Free Multimedia Text Sets

Awesome Stories has released Text Sets, free multimedia collections designed to help teachers implementing the Common Core State Standards.

Currently, the company is offering two series for the fall — "100th Anniversary of World War I" and "Stories Behind the Stories — 7 Stories in Film."

Stories in the World War I collection include:

The "Stories Behind the Stories" collection, which focuses on the history related to films, includes:

"Each series includes seven story guides, links to the originating story, primary source documents, videos, audios and images to augment and extend the stories, and assignments complete with learning tasks, rubrics and an easy online submission and grading system," according to a news release. "Each story text set includes an assignment comprised of three learning tasks and the capability for the teacher to devise her own."

Elements available for teachers to assign in each set include:

  • Online story guides;
  • Primary sources;
  • The core story;
  • Online videos of the core story;
  • Essential questions for consideration;
  • Classroom discussions; and
  • Learning task prompts.
