Online Tool Aims To Turn Admissions Interviews Into Virtual Events

A new virtual meeting tool makes it possible for prospective students to schedule interviews with college admissions officers online.

CollegeWeekLive's High School Connect will give high school counselors an intuitive online platform to schedule video meetings for students and parents directly with college admissions departments.

At the same time, the tool will give colleges more latitude to identify, schedule and conduct live online events with high schools they may be interested in recruiting students from.

By reducing the need for expensive travel, high school students and their parents can interview with more colleges than if they had to depend on live, face-to-face meetings.

"My students are able to meet and chat online with admissions representatives from a much broader range of colleges and universities than ever before," said Ben Davis High School Counselor Terry Henry in Indianapolis.

At the same time, college admissions officers with tight travel budgets can interact with more potential qualified applicants than before.
CollegeWeekLive already holds numerous virtual college fairs, like this one for UC Santa Cruz.

"This gives us a way to connect with students at our feeder schools as well as high schools we do not visit in person," said Jeff Fuller, director of student recruiting at the University of Houston.

In fact, colleges can use High School Connect at almost every stage of the admissions process, from staging information sessions to conducting interviews to holding online orientation sessions for accepted students.

CollegeWeekLive, an online channel that helps students navigate the college admissions process, already holds online college fairs similar to one held October 2 for several branches of the University of California.
