Virginia District Expands Partnership To Improve Mobile Access to Tech Tools

Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS) has decided to expand its partnership with a private company in an effort to improve mobile access to online tools and provide a unified platform for its education technology.

The district, with more than 13,000 students, will adopt Blackboard's "full K-12 solutions portfolio, which includes five solutions that center on teaching and learning as well as community engagement," according to a news release.

"We want every student and teacher to have access to all of the tools they need to accomplish their education goals," said Vincent Scheivert, chief information officer for ACPS, in a prepared statement. "We've found that with Blackboard. Now, when a teacher or student needs a way for technology to bring an idea to life, accomplish a goal or take a next step in their education journey, they know where they can go."

"We are proud to partner with such a forward-thinking district that is looking at educating their students from a holistic point of view and putting their teachers, faculty and students in the best position to succeed," said Mark Strassman, senior vice president of industry and product management at Blackboard, in a news release. "We are excited to move forward with ACPS and continue to work together to use technology in new and exciting ways; helping teachers teach, learners learn and parents and communities engage."
