U Utah Launches Microsoft Mobile App and Analytics Challenge

Students at the University of Utah, along with local high school students, will have the opportunity to participate in a Microsoft Mobile Application & Analytics Challenge beginning this March.

The result of a partnership between the university's David Eccles School of Business and the software company, the challenge will include three class periods over five weeks designed to help students learn about the company's TouchDevelop mobile platform and present and further develop their apps.

The courses, taught by Microsoft Academic Developer Evangelist Randy Guthrie, will include:

  • Orientation and training, during which students will learn how to create their apps, March 9-11;
  • Lab time, March 23-27, for students to work on their apps in a computer lab with Guthrie and teaching assistants available for help; and
  • An analytics discussion and wrap-up April 13-15, when Guthrie will discuss the analytics and data from the students' apps.

Students interested in applying for one of the 800 spots available should visit business.utah.edu.
