Compass Learning Launches New Digital Activities for Grades 6-8

Compass Learning has added 800 new activities to its portfolio of tools designed to help students in grades 6-8 improve their English language arts and math skills for computer-based assessments.

The new activities incorporate multimedia and technology-enhanced questions aligned with Common Core standards and the standards for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers and the Smarter Balanced Assessments.

Any learning gaps students may have are determined first with assessment tools like the NWEA MAP Scantron Performance Series or the Renaissance Learning STAR data. After that process is completed, individualized learning paths are targeted for students using a series of digital learning activities.

The English language arts activities involve close reading of texts, both fiction and non-fiction, and writing exercises. The math activities feature visual representation of concepts designed to lead to greater understanding.

The new exercises that are part of Compass Learning's Pathblazer math and reading intervention software and its Hybridge blended learning program join more than 30,000 digital learning activities the company offers.

"As school districts across the country prepare to test their students for the first time using new computer-based assessments, it is critical they have the proper tools that help overcome curriculum pain points and grow students' confidence in the online testing environment," said Compass Learning Vice President Eileen Shihadeh. "Our new digital learning activities meet this challenge head on with content and functionalities that represent the types of assessment questions students will see on technology-delivered assessments."
