Northrop Grumman Launches Fab Labs Contest

The Northrop Grumman Foundation has launched the Fab School Labs contest, which will grant five winning middle schools up to $100,000 to create a state-of-the-art science lab.

Teachers and administrators can submit applications, along with photos and videos, at fabschoollabs.com to enter eligible schools. Semi-finalists will be selected to have their videos presented for public voting online. Winners will be partnered with Finn Scientific to design the new labs.

"The contest is designed to drive students' interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by giving public middle school teachers and school administrators the chance to create the STEM lab of their dreams and provide students access to the latest learning tools and technologies that will stimulate as well as teach," according to a news release.

"Enhancing their classroom tools is another way to help our teachers boost the science and technology learning experience for their students," said Sandra Evers-Manly, vice president of global corporate responsibility at Northrop Grumman and president of the Northrop Grumman Foundation, in a prepared statement. "Young people are naturally inquisitive and adept at so many of the technologies we have available to us today. With the help of teachers and the community at large, we look forward to giving students the chance to succeed and thrive as they engage in the exciting field of science, technology, engineering and math where they can let their imagination soar."
