Illinois District adopts Online Math Curriculum To Improve Critical Thinking

The La Moille Community Unit School District has implemented a new elementary
online math curriculum in an effort to help develop critical thinking skills.
The district chose to deploy Stepping Stones, from
Origo Education, beginning this fall. "The rigorous curriculum challenges students
to think independently and translate mathematical concepts into real-world scenarios," according to a news release. "Mastery of thinking and
reasoning skills strengthen the mathematical foundation and will be essential when competing for 21st-century jobs."
"Stepping Stones is helping our district transform its math curriculum," said Richard Espinoza, superintendent for La Moille CUSD, in a
prepared statement. "Students and teachers are utilizing the engaging technology enhanced program to meet the Common Core State Standards."
