National Association of Secondary School Principals Debuts New Resources

The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) has unveiled a suite of new programs and services for member schools.

"From an expanded scholarship program to online student engagement opportunities, the roll out of these resources will support member schools, students and their advisers within the areas of scholarship, service, leadership and character (and citizenship at the middle level)," according to a news release.

New offerings from the organization include:

• A college admissions support program, featuring webinars and Twitter "town halls" designed to put students, parents and advisers in touch with college admissions officers to answer questions about applications, financial aid and finding the right school;
• Improved online resources for advisers;
• An expanded scholarship program and a new awards program that will grant middle school students $500 each to start saving for college;
• A new scholarship search tool; and
• One-day state summits.

"We're excited to kick off this school year with the announcement of our resources and tools to continue supporting students as they become our future leaders and outstanding community citizens," said JoAnn D. Bartoletti, executive director of the NASSP, in a prepared statement. "As we've done for nearly 100 years, the National Honor Societies are committed to responding to the ever changing needs of our members to ensure students are well-equipped for future success. The announcement today is an example of our commitment to providing every opportunity for students to grow in character, scholarship, leadership, service and citizenship."
