Washington District Switches to Integrated Financial, Personnel Software

West Valley School District in Yakima, WA, became the fourth school district in the state to sign on to adopt an integrated financial and personnel management platform.

The district chose Tyler Technologies' Infinite Visions, designed specifically for K-12 school districts. Infinite Visions is an enterprise suite that will be used for financial, purchasing, human resources, payroll, warehouse, fixed assets and state reporting modules. It offers centralized workflows, real-time access to consolidated data and reduced duplication of many activities.

Other districts in Washington that have opted to use the Tyler software rather than the one supplied by the state's cooperative for school business software are the Kiona-Benton City, Mead and Fife school districts.

Kim Scott, business manager for the Kiona-Benton City district, said the software switch, which the district implemented in 2009, has saved hundreds of hours of staff time every year and about $60,000 in annual costs. Scott said the Kiona-Benton City district, with 1,400 students and 250 staff members, was able to eliminate paper-based pay stuffs and the manual entry of substitute teacher information.

"Unlike the state-preferred product where the software is configured and then pushed out to all of the member school districts, we have a lot more options with Infinite Visions," Scott said.

"Tyler's Infinite Visions solution was designed to help K-12 school districts operate more efficiently, which includes the ability to meet unique state reporting requirements," said Tyler Local Government Division President Brett Cate.
