Northwest Evaluation Association Launches Assessment Task Force
The Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) has launched a new national initiative designed to help fill gaps in teacher preparation related to effective use of assessments.
The Task Force on Assessment for Teachers will bring together teachers, pre-service teachers, assessment experts and thought leaders "to foster national dialogue around the appropriate uses of assessment for education," according to a news release.
The task force builds on the organization's Assessment Literacy initiative, launched in August and designed to offer professional development in the use of assessments in teaching and learning.
"This diverse, national task force brings together considerable energy and passion on the topic of assessment education for teachers," said Matt Chapman, president & CEO of NWEA, in a prepared statement. "In light of the recent federal guidance on assessment, it's even more critical for teachers to have programs and resources that foster an understanding of how to use assessment to provide every student with an equitable K-12 education."
A full list of individuals selected for the task force is available at nwea.org.
