Schoology Integrates Skyward, Respondus

The Schoology learning management system (LMS) now works together with the Skyward student information system (SIS) and Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor. The goal of the integrations is to make it easier for educators to use the applications seamlessly in the classroom through a single interface.

"Education technology tools are often too disconnected, making it difficult for educators to collaborate and manage students across multiple applications," said Ryan Hwang, co-founder and vice president of product at Schoology, in a news release.

Schoology's integration with the Skyward SIS helps schools synchronize student grades, as well as course, enrollment and other information across both systems. Automated synchronization helps improve the accuracy of student data because it eliminates the potential for human data-entry errors. It also eliminates time lag required for manual data entry, so both systems contain the most up-to-date information. For teachers, it means they only have to enter student grades once, potentially saving them hours of time.

Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor lets educators restrict student activity during online assessments, preventing them chatting online with friends or accessing other Web sites or applications while testing is in progress. The integration of Respondus with Schoology lets teachers lock down assessments directly from Schoology, without leaving the platform.

These two new integrations add to the growing list of third-party systems, content providers, and applications that work together with Schoology. More information about interoperability between Schoology and other systems can be found on Schoology's site.
