ClassDojo Launches School-Wide Features
ClassDojo,
a communication platform for sharing classroom moments with parents and
students, now allows school leaders to create online sharing
communities for their whole school.
Until now, ClassDojo has been
restricted to classroom-level sharing between teachers, parents and
students. The platform allows them to share photos, videos and messages
about daily events in the classroom in a secure online environment.
However, teachers and school leaders have been asking for ways to
create school communities on the platform, and over the past year, an
increasing number of school leaders have been joining ClassDojo as
"teachers" as a way of circumventing the classroom-level restriction
and sending the company the message that the platform needed to expand
to the school level.
The company got the message, and in January
it set up a waitlist for school leaders who wanted to join. In the
first week, five percent of principals in the United States joined the
waitlist, according to a news release from the company. Since then,
ClassDojo has been working to implement its first school-wide features.
New school-wide features of ClassDojo include:
- School Leader Accounts, which let principals and other school leaders create their own accounts on ClassDojo; and
- School
Story, which allows teachers and school leaders to securely share
photos, videos and messages with parents on the platform.
School-wide features are available now through the ClassDojo app, which can be found in the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
Further information about the platform can be found on the ClassDojo site.
