Updated Smart kapp iQ Has All-in-One Capability

Smart Technologies has unveiled the latest version of its Smart kapp iQ display board, this one with software built into the interactive display so that users have no need for an external computer.

Smart kapp iQ, first introduced to the education market last year, is an ultra-high-definition 4k display that combines the original whiteboard functionality with multiway, multi-device collaboration. Anything written on the display is broadcast to anyone, anywhere in the world. Participants can then make notes on their own devices that immediately display back on the kapp iQ. The kapp iQ uses the existing Smart kapp app, with premium features such as digital inking over content.

"With the new all-in-one capability, we've not only simplified the user experience for better technology adoption, but have also developed an easy way for administrators to standardize installation, training, maintenance and support across multiple classrooms," said Smart Technologies CTO Warren Barkley.

The app activates live web-sharing with up to five users, access to the snapshot library and the ability to open saved notes in Evernote.

Features in the updated Smart kapp iQ include:

  • Built-in web browser;
  • One-touch access to cloud-based collaboration software;
  • Game-based learning activity software (available in August);
  • Smart Notebook (also available in August);
  • WiFi-based screencasting;
  • External PC access via HDMI and USB; and
  • Automatic over-the-air software updates.

Purchase of the interactive flat panel includes a one-year subscription to the Smart Learning Suite: Smart Notebook, Smart lab, Smart response 2 and the Smart amp.

The suggested price of the Smart kapp iQ remains the same: $3,999 for the 55-inch model, $4,999 for the 65-inch and $6,999 for the 75-inch model.
