Eastland ISD Adopts Security Communications Platform

The Eastland Independent School District has adopted a new communication tool designed to improve district security.

The district has deployed Copsync911, a service that provides real-time information to law enforcement personnel in their cars when activated during a school safety incident. Once activated by school faculty or staff, the system sends an immediate silent alert to all other personnel inside the building, along with police dispatch and to the patrol cars and mobile devices of the nearest police officers.

"The COPsync911 system has the ability to inform patrol officers and dispatch of a threat potentially faster than dialing 911," according to a news release. "The system also provides responding officers a map and facility diagram to hasten response time thereby saving minutes when seconds count."

"COPsync911 protects individual classrooms as well as our students and staff when they are traveling on school district buses," said Jason Cochran, Eastland ISD superintendent, in a prepared statement. "The joint effort between our school and local law enforcement is a powerful and deep commitment to the safety of our children and our community."
