Speakaboos Reading App Hits the Market

Speakaboos, the New York-based ed tech company that promotes learning and reading through interactive, kid-friendly media, has launched a national marketing campaign for its multi-platform reading app for children ages 2 to 6.

The Speakaboos reading app is available on iOS for Apple or through Google Play for Android. The cost is $7.99 per month, $69.99 annually, or free for a limited trial period.

The Speakaboos app library features more than 200 interactive stories categorized by children’s interests, from dinosaurs, princesses and animals to space, robots and music. Many popular characters are featured, including Thomas & Friends, Sid the Science Kid, as well as figures from "Sesame Street," "Rapunzel" and "The Three Little Pigs."

“Speakaboos is turning kids’ screen time into reading time with engaging and educational content they love and parents feel good about,” said Neal Shenoy, CEO and co-founder of Speakaboos, in a prepared statement. “We’re thrilled to launch this campaign and can’t wait for kids around the country to #ChooseReading with Speakaboos the next time they engage in screen time.”

Speakaboos recently raised $12.5 million in series B-1 financing lead by Wellington Management Company to support global marketing and customer acquisition initiatives.

Spearheading the Speakaboos campaign is a TV commercial developed by the Northern Lights Direct agency titled “Screen Time.” It debuted Monday.
