New Edition of Camp Wonderopolis Focuses on Health and Fitness

The free, online summer learning camp offers 42 interactive learning modules for kids and families.

The National Center for Families Learning (NCFL), in collaboration with Better World Books, launched the newest edition of a free, online summer-learning platform.

Camp Wonderopolis offers 42 interactive learning modules to kids and families. This year’s theme, “Flex Your Wonder,” aligns with the Collaborative Summer Library Program’s summer reading theme of “Wellness, Fitness, and Sports.” Topics explore health and fitness, and include a special track that connects to the 2016 Summer Olympic Games

Since 2014, NCFL has unveiled a new edition of Camp Wonderopolis each summer that is available year round. Camp Wonderopolis has been used by more than 300,000 online users to date, “resulting in 80,000 vocabulary words mastered and 33,000 informational text and vocabulary quizzes passed,” according to a news release.

Libraries, schools and community-based organizations all use the virtual camp for summer programs. This year, the new edition includes content from libraries across the country, available both online and for purchase.

While Camp Wonderopolis provides free resources, families and programs can purchase “Campsite Kits” at the newly launched Wonder Store. The kits provide implementation guides, online training, campsite markers, wonder journals and other support materials.

Further information is available on the Camp Wonderopolis site.
