Delaware to Build OER Repository

The Delaware Department of Education (DDE) recently joined a national movement to use high-quality, openly licensed educational resources in schools. In support of the #GoOpen campaign, launched by the United States Department of Education’s Office of Education Technology, Delaware will build a statewide repository of open educational resources (OER).

Last year, DDE assembled the Task Force on State Education Technology to survey the current use of education technology, revealing a “need for a repository of quality open education resources that have been thoroughly vetted and aligned with Delaware standards,” according the DDE website.

The task force released a report recommending that open educational resources (OER) be used to:

  • Create an “online virtual network that will include digital resources and data analysis capabilities to deliver blended learning to personalize instruction for students,” according to the report;
  • Establish a repository that will be available on the virtual network; and
  • “Provide resources and personnel” sufficient to support statewide implementation.

Now a #GoOpen state, Delaware will adopt and implement its technology strategy to use openly licensed resources and collaborate with other #GoOpen states.
