Shmoop Gains College Board Approval for Select Online AP Courses
Digital publisher Shmoop has received approval from the College Board for some of its online Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
Courses winning approval include AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Comparative Government and Politics, AP Psychology, AP Human Geography and AP Computer Science A. The company "hopes to get the College Board seal of approval on many more AP courses in the future, including Calculus, Statistics, Art History and more," according to a news release.
Shmoop's AP courses are designed to be taken completely online or in a blended environment and include introductions, readings, activities, answer keys, teacher notes, assessments and prep tools for the relevant AP exam.
"We've demonstrated proven results with our online test prep in the past," said Ellen Siminoff, CEO of Shmoop, in a prepared statement. "Now, with our College Board-approved online courses, students will be better prepared than ever to tackle the AP exams and earn college credit, no matter where they are."
