Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Updates Social Studies Curricula with Virtual Field Trips
        
        
        
        Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) has unveiled HMH  Social Studies 2018, a collection of social studies curricula for  students in grades 6 through 12.
The program covers civics, economics, geography, government, history  and psychology. Features of the program include:
    - Document-based investigations;
 
    - Analytic skills activities designed to help  students examine source materials and develop critical thinking skills;
 
    - A focus on primary sources that aims to improve  media literacy and emphasize fact checking for the digital world;
 
    - Virtual reality field trips powered by Google Expeditions;
 
    - History "Multimedia Connections";
 
    - Interactive maps, games and data from Maps.com;
 
    - Online and offline digital delivery; and
 
    - Responsive design for a smooth user experience  regardless of the device used.
 
"Social studies is a vital lens through which our  students come to understand the world they live in," said Mary Cullinane,  executive vice president and chief content officer at Houghton Mifflin  Harcourt, in a prepared statement. "Building civic awareness in our young  people is one of our greatest responsibilities as educators and this program  includes new ways to meet that responsibility."
