Global Document Camera for Classroom Market to Increase Over 11 Percent Through 2020

The global document camera for smart classrooms market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 11 percent from 2016 through 2020, according to a recent report by Technavio, a London-based tech market research firm.

The report lists portable and ceiling document cameras as the two major segments for document cameras at K–12 schools and higher education institutions. In 2015, the ceiling document cameras segment dominated the market with almost 65 percent of the market share.

“The document camera is gaining importance in the education technology market, due to its ability to assist visual learning in small and large learning atmospheres,” said Jhansi Mary, a lead ed tech research analyst at Technavio, in a prepared statement.

The rise of online education and e-learning are key reasons for the increasing demand for document cameras in smart classrooms, according to the report.

Technavio education analysts have highlighted the following three market drivers that are contributing to the growth of the global document cameras in classrooms:

  • Growth in digital content for education;
  • Horizontal learning support;
  • Increased demand for distance education.
