Verizon Innovative Learning Brings Back STEM Learning Programs
Verizon Innovative Learning announced it’s bringing two of its STEM
programs, both for middle school students.
The hands-on programs, Young
Men of Color and Rural Young Women, were temporarily canceled in
2020 owing to the pandemic. The 2021 camps are being offered in
partnership with “HBCUs, Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and
community colleges across the country,” according to Verizon.
According to Verizon: “Reaching nearly 5,000 young students per
year, both Young Men of Color and Rural Young Women work to empower
underserved middle school students to explore STEM subjects, learn
problem-solving skills and consider career opportunities in
technology fields by providing mentorship, access to technology and
hands-on training.”
The programs are three weeks long and are offered once per month
throughout the year. The programs are open to all middle school
students. Students can participate in either program, regardless of
gender identity.
