Louisiana Public Broadcasting Renews Partnership with Discovery Education

Louisiana Public Broadcasting has extended for another year its long-term partnership with digital learning platform Discovery Education, which allows public schools in the state to subscribe with the state picking up a portion of the cost.

LPB’s Educational Services Department is “committed to providing extensive information, lesson plans, materials, and digital resources to support formal K–12 education statewide,” according to a news release. LPB’s contract renewal makes this the 19th year it has provided Discovery Education resources to Louisiana educators and students.

Discovery Education’s over 200,000 pieces of instructional content in various forms are aligned to state and national standards, and its platform works within districts’ existing infrastructure and workflows thanks to expanded partnerships with Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, Schoology, Canvas, Brightspace, and Clever, the organizations noted.

“Louisiana Public Broadcasting has made maintaining and enhancing Louisiana’s role as a national leader in emerging television and educational technologies one the goals of its strategic plan,” said LPB Acting Executive Director Clarence Copeland.

Other education resources offered for schools statewide by LPB include Sesame Street in Communities; PBS Kids for grades PreK–2; Ziggy’s Arts Adventure for grades K–5; Teach Your Way Planner for PreK–2 teachers; and PBS LearningMedia for all grades.

Louisiana is one of several states in which Discovery Education resources are available through a statewide provider; others include Arizona, Delaware, New Hampshire, Nevada, Mississippi, and South Carolina.
