A review of data from more than 225,000 female middle and high school students has revealed a major gap between the aptitude of girls for STEM and their interest in pursuing STEM careers. It also found their interest exceeds aptitude in some non-STEM disciplines.
Career training and aptitude assessment provider YouScience has launched a new education-to-career platform for K–12 students called Brightpath that helps students identify their natural aptitudes and skills, identify the learning path and school coursework best aligned to their aptitudes and future career opportunities, connect with post-secondary programs matching their aptitudes and interests, find internships and jobs matching their aptitudes, and even earn CTE certifications.

Less than a year after introducing its Reading Coach and Reading Progress tools for education users, Microsoft today introduced an entire suite of similar tools called Learning Accelerators that focus on digital literacy, speaking and presentation skills, and math, each with a “Coach” tool for students and a “Progress” monitoring and assigning tool for teachers.

The LGBT-focused nonprofit It Gets Better Project has opened its grant program that will award $10,000 grants to 50 schools in the United States, as well as additional grants to schools in Canada, to help support LGBT youth. The deadline is March 15.
The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents is set to hold its virtual National Career Fair for the third consecutive year on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023 from noon to 5 p.m. EST, the nonprofit said in a news release.

College and career readiness company YouScience has released its “Post Graduation Readiness Report Part II,” which reveals that while 44% of female high school students showed aptitude for careers in architecture and engineering, they showed 0% interest in them when interest-based, instead of aptitude-based, tools were used to gauge student talents, abilities, and pathways.
