Sony Unveils New Projectors

Sony has introduced several new models of projectors, including new WUXGA models weighing less than 13 pounds and new laser light source units.

The VPL-FHZ700L is the company's new 3LCD laser light source projector, building on the capabilities of its predecessor, the VPL-FHZ55. The VPL-FHZ700L is designed for meeting rooms, classrooms, auditoriums and other large venues. It offers tilt-angle-free installation, so the projector can roll 360 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise, including portrait or landscape orientation, without affecting image clarity or stability, according to the company.

Key features of the VPL-FHZ700L include:

• 7,000 lumens of color brightness;
• WUXGA resolution (1,920 x 1,200);
• 3LCD technology;
• Instant on/off;
• Edge blending;
• Wide range of vertical/horizontal lens shift;
• Advanced geometric correction;
• Multiple interfaces;
• Seven optional lenses;
• 20,000 hours of light source replacement time; and
• Optional slot-in HDBaseT board.

The VPL-FHZ700L is planned to be available in September 2014. Further information about the VPL-FHZ700L can be found on Sony's site.

The VPL-CH375, VPL-CH355 and VPL-CH350 are WUXGA projectors that weigh less than 13 pounds. According to the company, they are "ideal for displaying full HD videos and high resolution computer signal formats" in "spaces where conventional high end installation projectors are not the right choice."

Key features of the high-definition business projectors include:

• WUXGA resolution (1,920 x 1,200);
• New 0.64-inch 3LCD BrightEra panel;
• 5,000 lumens of color light output (VPL-CH375) or 4,000 lumens (VPL-CH355 and VPL-CH350);
• Fine lens shift;
• HDBaseT input (VPL-CH375 and VPL-CH355);
• Corner keystone adjustment;
• H/V keystone adjustment; and
• Two HDMI inputs.

The new models will be available in fall 2014.

The VPL-GTZ1 is a new 4K, ultra-short throw projector with laser light source.

Key features of the VPL-GTZ1 include:

• Laser phosphor light source;
• 2,000 lumens of color brightness;
• Ability to throw high-resolution images up to approximately 147 inches diagonally and zoom down to 66 inches when projecting in 17:9 format;
• Floor-standing, ceiling-mounted or rear projection capabilities; and
• 20,000 hours of maintenance-free operation.

The VPL-GTZ1 is planned to be available in fall 2014.

The SRX-T423 is a new 4K, 3D dual projection system designed for large venues, such as auditoriums and lecture halls.

Key features of the SRX-T423 include:

• 23,000 center lumens;
• 30,000 lumens in high brightness mode;
• 40,000 lumens of 3D brightness in dual projection mode;
• 4K resolution (4,096 x 2,160);
• 3,000:1 contrast ratio;
• Support for lenses from other SRX series models; and
• Vertical tilt angle of +/- 30 degrees.
