ISTE Launches Digital Citizenship Academy Series for Educators

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has launched the Digital Citizenship Academy, a series of online modules designed to help educators understand and address issues of digital citizenship.

The series is built on ISTE's standards and features six modules with resources, videos and lesson plans designed to "help educators use digital tools appropriately and address digital citizenship issues in their schools and districts," according to a news release. "The courses also provide ideas for collaborating with other groups, such as families and community members, to help student and parents become better digital citizens."

"For educators to prepare students to be good digital citizens, it is crucial that they have a clear understanding of the many components of digital citizenship and consistently model the behavior." said Wendy Drexler, ISTE chief innovation officer, in a prepared statement. "The new Digital Citizenship Academy will help educators explore the complex issues around digital citizenship and cultivate a learning environment in which the development of these important life skills is fostered in all students."

The full series costs $207.97 for ISTE members and $309.95 for non-members. Educators who sign up for all six modules in November will receive 20 percent off.
