Vernier Offers Free Data-Collection Technology Workshops
Beginning in early September, Vernier
Software &
Technology will offer free
hands-on workshops to help teachers of science,
technology, engineering and math (STEM) integrate data-collection
technology
into their curricula. During the four-hour workshops, Vernier training
specialists will help teachers explore classroom-ready experiments using
the
company's technology.
The sessions will focus on integrating the
data-collection
technology into physics, chemistry, biology, environmental science and
general
K-8 science classes.
"Whether
educators are looking to acquire new data-collection skills or hone
their
existing ones, our workshops provide a great professional development
opportunity," said David Vernier, co-founder of Vernier and a former
physics teacher.
Each participating educator will receive an
electronic copy of
the Vernier "Workshop Training Manual" and they have the option to earn
two
graduate science credit hours through the Portland
State University Center for
Science Education.
The sessions will be held in
36 different locations around the
United States through September and October, beginning with Houston on
September 8
and wrapping up October 28 in Worcester, MA.
