iNACOL To Host Webinar on Data and Personalized Learning

The International Association for K-2 Online Learning (iNACOL) will host a free Teacher Talk webinar focused on using technology and data to improve instruction and personalize learning for each student.

"How can we ensure the use of digital tools in the classroom is supporting teachers and improving instruction? Recently, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation released Teachers Know Best: Making Data Work for Students and Teachers, a summary of findings to encourage K-12 innovation by helping educators, school leaders and product developers better understand teacher perspectives surrounding the use of digital instructional tools in the classroom," according to a news release.

In the webinar, Sarah Allen, deputy director of the Gates Foundation's College Ready team will discuss the efforts of the foundation and key partners to explain how technology can support teachers in adapting instruction, opening up project-based learning opportunities and strengthening communication between students, teachers and parents.

"By leveraging the use of technology in the classroom, teachers can shift their instructional models and personalize learning for every student," said Susan Patrick, president and CEO of iNACOL, in a prepared statement. "With powerful digital tools at their fingertips, teachers can utilize data to know exactly where each student is on his or her learning continuum and tailor instruction to each student in ways never before possible. By better understanding how teachers are using data in the classroom and illuminating ways the usage of these tools can be improved, we can advance powerful, personalized learning experiences and prepare each student for success in college and career."

The webinar, also called Teachers Know Best: Making Data Work for Students and Teachers, is free to attend and will be held February 18.
