Pearson, Teaching Channel Partner for Online PD

Pearson has partnered with Teaching Channel to create an online professional development community for teachers who use Pearson's myPerspectives English language arts (ELA) curriculum.

Pearson myPerspectives is a blended print and digital integrated curriculum for grades 6-12 that the company launched in February. With this partnership, myPerspectives teachers across the country will have the opportunity to collaborate in an online professional community through the Teaching Channel, a collaborative, online, video-based professional learning platform, allowing them "to watch teacher-created videos, take notes and share resources in real time as they learn techniques to improve their own classroom practices," according to a news release.

With the myPerspectives Teaching Channel, teachers can access on-demand professional development, including modeling videos of myPerspectives lessons. Teachers can also participate in video-enabled professional learning communities called Teaching Channel Teams to share best practices and teaching resources, and to collaborate through videos. The platform also offers a professional development video library containing hundreds of teacher-created videos that model classroom-based strategies for teaching other ELA, social studies, math and science lessons.

"The myPerspectives partnership with Teaching Channel enables us to leverage a social media platform that will empower teachers by encouraging innovation and promoting best practices," said Leigh Ann Garcia, vice president of product management and marketing, K-12 literacy for Pearson, in a prepared statement.

Teachers can sign up for free on the Teaching Channel site. Further information about the partnership between Pearson myPerspectives and Teaching Channel can be found on Pearson's site.
