Follett Challenge Seeks Unique Learning Programs

Follett is looking for K–12 schools and districts with outstanding programs to enter the 6th annual Follett Challenge for a chance to win $200,000 in products and services.  

“The Follett Challenge is an advocacy program designed to give educators a platform to share their stories of innovating ways to teach skills needed in the 21st century,” according to the contest website. Classroom teachers, technology specialists, administrators, PTA members, librarians and media specialists can enter the competition by filling out an online application. Participants must also submit a 3–5 minute video showcasing the technology program and its impact.

Past winners have included math, service learning and project-based learning programs from schools varying in size, population and location. A high school located on the Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, for example, won for its innovative STEM and CTE program.

Registration for the challenge is open until Dec. 23. Voting begins in January, semifinalists will be selected in February and the grand prize winner will be announced in April.
