Britannica has debuted LaunchPacks: Social Studies, a collection of content packs designed to cover the entire K-12 social studies curriculum.

"LaunchPacks includes more than 1,600 current, trustworthy and highly relevant content sets, from American Folk Heroes to World War II, offering a full range of articles, images, videos and primary sources presented in an engaging interface and optimized for any size device," according to a news release. "Teachers will spend less time searching for resources by having what they need in one place."

Features include:

  • Content aligned to district and state standards;
  • Reliable, up-to-date and age-appropriate content prepared by Britannica editors;
  • Availability of most articles in three different levels, for differentiation of instruction;
  • The ability to customize by adding or removing content, appending notes or uploading original content to share with others;
  • Material covering the contributions of broad and diverse social, racial and ethnic groups and genders; and
  • Interrelated elements, including articles, images, videos and documents designed to provide rich context.

"Teachers tell us that finding relevant, reliable material for lessons is enormously time consuming," said Michael Ross, general manager of Britannica Digital Learning and a senior vice president at Encyclopaedia Britannica, in a prepared statement. "LaunchPacks: Social Studies has what they need all in one place, so it will save them time, with content their students will find compelling, accessible and diverse."
