Edmentum Updates Study Island, Courseware, Exact Path

Edmentum, a provider of online learning tools, has updated Study Island, Courseware and Exact Path in an effort to improve standards alignment, student performance monitoring, reporting and more.

Study Island, the company's practice and assessment platform, has updated its interface to help students take control of their own learning. The new version features a redesigned dashboard that displays active assignments, topics in progress, possible future topics based on previous performance and any blue ribbons the student has earned.

Other upgrades aim to improve the teacher experience with better standards alignment and simpler assignment creation.

Courseware offers more than 400 online classes aligned to state and national standards. Upgrades to Courseware include a new gradebook feature designed to improve daily management of online learning, and new ways to view data about course pacing, progress and grades. Teachers can now more easily change grading weights to comply with school policy, as well.

Improvements to Exact Path, the company's individualized learning platform, include reporting based on demographics, allowing teachers and administrators to sort data by categories of students. "The enhancements will present norm-referenced data that allows teachers to compare student performance to national norms to track progress and growth trends," according to the company.

Exact Path has also been expanded for use by students in grades 6–8, and all content is now completely free of Flash for accessibility on any device.

"We are always listening to educators about how we can improve our solutions to make their lives easier," said Edmentum Chief Technology Officer Paul Johansen, in a prepared statement. "Each enhancement we are rolling out was developed in direct response to feedback from the educators who use them. We continue to work with schools and teachers to learn how we can best support their classrooms."
