NEC Intros Text-to-Speech for E-Series Displays

NEC has updated its line of MultiSync E Series displays with text-to-speech functionality and more.

Designed for organizations seeking entry-level digital signage, the E Series displays will now have wake-on-HDMI, a feature that allows the display to sense an HDMI connection and power on to the input. The displays will also feature built-in digital/analog ATSC/ NTSC tuners for coaxial connections and text-to-speech functionality when closed captioning is in use.

Useful in situations with low ambient light and where signage is needed around the clock, the E Series displays feature a built-in USB media player that can display video, audio and still images, eliminating the need for cables or an external computer. Other features of displays in the series include:

• Three HDMI inputs;
• An updated user interface;
• A scheduler;
• CEC control via HDMI;
• Integrated own-firing speakers;
• VGA and RCA connectivity; and
• 3-year parts and labor warranty.

"Our updated E Series displays improve on an already great product by including advanced, easy-to-use features at a low total cost of ownership," said Kevin Christopherson, director of product marketing at NEC Display, in a prepared statement. "This gives customers with smaller budgets an easy way to get commercial-grade digital signage to advance their businesses and improve their branding."

The E Series includes the E326, E436, E506, E556 and E656. Prices for the various models range from $399 for the E326 to $1,999 for the E656.
