##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

10.31.2006—BenQ, a technology manufacturer based in Irvine, Calif., today announced a new model in its ultra-portable line of professional digital projectors. The M510 is a 5.7-pound single-chip, DLP-based model that comes in at less that $500. It's expected to ship next month.

BenQ's M510 features 1,500 ANSI lumens of brightness, a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and a native SVGA (1,024 x 768) resolution. It can also accept HD signals ranging from 480p to 1080i. The new model offers a user-selectable aspect ratio (4:3 or 19:9); supports NTSC, PAL and SECAM standards; and includes a color-correction scheme that allows for projection on a variety of surfaces, such as walls, blackboards and greenboards. Other features include:

  • 22 dB operation;
  • Password protection
  • A presentation timer;
  • Presets for AV and computer sources;
  • Automatic shutoff;
  • Seven picture mode settings;
  • And a “quick cooling” feature that BenQ says reduces cool-down times by up to 60 percent.

The M510 measures 3.6" H x 10.9" W x 8.2" D and weighs in at 5.7 pounds. It can be operated at the front of the room or back and includes support for ceiling and table mounting. It's expected to ship in November for $499. Further details were not available at press time.
