ELMO Ships P100 Document Camera

12.21.2006—ELMO USA has started shipping a new high-end document camera, the P100. The new model offers SXGA native resolution and supports HDTV output with progressive scan (720p). At present, it supports Windows-based systems, though Mac support is on the way, according to the company.

The P100 document camera is designed for presentation situations where the presenter wishes to display live images of documents, which are placed on the unit's flat bed. (A built-in LCD display helps with positioning.) But it also includes a card slot for presenting stored images, as well as a USB connector for displaying images from a computer. (The card slot supports SD Card media.) When using an SD Card, images can be displayed in a slideshow format or in a split view. When presenting with a computer, the P100 can also create a split screen showing live and stored images simultaneously.

Other features include:

  • 30 FPS image capture;
  • 16x optical zoon and 4x digital zoom;
  • A lens designed to minimize distortion;
  • USB conectivity;
  • Flexible camera and light arms;
  • RS232C interface;
  • "Clear text mode" for optimizing black and white contrast when displaying text only.

The P100 is available now with support for Windows-based systems and PC-free operation. Software for Mac OS X will be available "soon," according to ELMO. The unit sells for $3,850.
