AccuWeather ScienceCompliance Modules Coming in March

01.25.2007—At the FETC 2007 Convention in Florida, AccuWeather today announced that its first ScienceCompliance modules will be available this March. ScienceCompliance is an online teacher preparation resource for K-8 institutions.

ScienceCompliance provides lesson plans aligned to states' individual science standards and is designed to comply with district, state, and NCLB requirements. It encompass all science topics that elementary and middle-school teachers (K-8) are required to teach and is written and reviewed by science educators and curriculum development experts, according to AccuWeather.

In March 2007, modules will be launched for ScienceCompliance that include weather and climate, astronomy, and genetics. Further modules to be released for the 2007/2008 school year include anatomy, atoms and molecules, botany, cell biology, chemical bonds, ecology, electricity and magnetism, energy, evolution, geology, light and sound, motion, physiology and health, and states of matter.

AccuWeather will also release a reporting tool and gap analysis for ScienceCompliance for the 2007/2008 school year.

In other AccuWeather news, the company has also launched an art competition called the AccuWeather Art Challenge, an art contest for children ages 4 to 12. Kids will be asked to "demonstrate their creativity through weather drawings using crayons, markers, and/or colored pencils and to be rewarded with prizes for their exceptional artwork."

Entries for the competition will be accepted through Feb. 28. Grand Prize Winners (chosen from each age group) receive a $200 gift card and an art contest plaque.
