2/6/2007—Today at the annual convention of the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA), Discovery Education announced upgrades to PowerMediaPlus.com, the company's curriculum-oriented media on demand system. According to Discovery, the new features add enhancements to the site's usability.

PowerMediaPlus.com is a media on demand system Discovery acquired when it purchased media company Clearvue & SVE in June 2006. Designed for K-12 schools, the service offers 50,000 multimedia components, including videos, concept clips, audio files, podcasts, still images, and print resources, as well as curriculum integration tools.

Some of the new features on PowerMediaPlus.com include:

  • A new content evaluation system that allows users to rate videos so that the service can provide recommendations based on user preferences;
  • Tags that allow users to search keyword content;
  • New content added, including more than 100 new video titles, with several titles available in both English and Spanish; and
  • Hundreds of new podcast episodes covering a wide range of subjects, including technology, nature and basic elementary skills.
