NEC Debuts 5,000-Lumen DLP Projector

3/20/2007—NEC Corp. has debuted a new model in its NP series of DLP-based projectors: the NP4000. The new model is an installation and large-venue projector targeted toward government, education and corporate applications. It made its first public appearance at the NSCA Expo 2007 in Orlando, FL.

The NP4000 is a single-chip DLP projector that offers a brightness of 5,000 ANSI lumens and a resolution of 1,024 x 768. The projector's optional lenses enable the new model to operate from 2.8 feet to 283 feet from a screen and support both horizontal and vertical lens shift.

Other features include:

  • Dual-lamp system for adjusting light output;
  • BrilliantColor video processing from Texas Instruments for color enhancement;
  • DynamicBlack technology for automatic contrast ratio adjustment;
  • User-adjustable color wheels with four segments (six segments optional);
  • Integrated networking and asset management (RJ45 connection for 10/100 Base-T connectivity); and
  • Eco Mode and lamp saver features to extend lamp life.
The NP4000 is expected to ship in April for $5,999.
