Orange County DoE To Deploy SEMS

The Orange County Department of Education in California will implement a new Safety and Emergency Management System (SEMS) from Maxxess Systems, a provider of network-based security systems. The contract calls for Maxxess to install the system at several schools over the next few months.
The SEMS suite comprises local clients and an information manager and database that sit on a central server. The version for schools was developed from Maxxess' offerings designed for commercial deployment and includes remote notification, reporting, video management, and event prioritization capabilities. The centralized event management system collects data from local school sites and distributes management and guidance back to them.
Functionality includes:
- Intrusion and fire detection;
- Lockdown management;
- Muster verification; and
- HVAC and lighting control.
Maxxess said the OCDE deployment will be completed within the next 90 days.
The Orange County Department of Education represents 28 school districts in Southern California serving more than 500,000 students.
