HP Awards $1.2 Million to K-12 Schools

HP has announced the recipients of its 2007 Technology for Teaching Leadership awards. Fifteen K-12 schools received awards totaling $1.2 million in equipment and professional development.

The HP Technology for Teaching Leadership awards are given out based on efforts on the parts of educators to "transform and improve learning in the classroom through innovative uses of technology." Award winners each received 11 HP Tablet PCs, 10 HP digital cameras, 10 all in one printers, 10 digital projectors, and stipends for the 15 teachers involved in the technology integration work, according to HP.

Recipients in the K-12 category included:

  • Three Rivers Elementary School, Three Rivers, CA
  • San Lorenzo Valley Elementary, Felton, CA
  • Julius B. Nachman Elementary School, Alexandria, LA
  • William Paca Elementary, Baltimore, MD
  • H. Olive Day Elementary School, Norfolk, MA
  • Watauga High School , Boone, NC
  • Hannibal High School, Hannibal, NY
  • Stockbridge Valley Central School, Munnsville, NY
  • Riley Creek Elementary School, Gold Beach, OR
  • Peters Township High School, McMurray, PA
  • Washington Oak School, Coventry, RI
  • Bolivar Middle School, Bolivar, TN
  • Sanchez Middle School, El Paso, TX
  • Clearfield High School, Clearfield, UT
  • Milwaukee Academy of Science, Milwaukee, WI

Ten colleges and universities also received grants in this year's program. To date, HP has awarded some $44 million to 850 schools through the program. More information about the grants can be found at the link below.
