San Francisco Unified School District and the School District of Philadelphia have signed on with Discovery Education "streaming" (formerly known as unitedstreaming), a service that provides digital video-based learning resources for schools. It's currently used by more than half the schools in the United States, according to Discovery.

Through the two deals, Discovery Education streaming will reach all of Philadelphia's public schools and 102 of SFUSD's schools. The implementation will be supported by Discovery Educator Network, which provides free access to technology training and a resource library of projects and tools. In both districts, as the service is rolled out, teachers and staff will "undergo intensive professional development designed to orient them to this new technology and help them integrate this resource into their existing lessons," according to Discovery.

Discovery Education streaming offers more than 4,000 full-length videos and other resources, including photography, reference articles, curriculum development, assignment creation, and test creation tools.

The School District of Philadelphia enrolls more than 210,000 students in 346 public and charter schools. San Francisco Unified School District serves more than 55,000 students in 141 PreK-12 schools.
