Institute Focuses on K-12 Laptop/Tablet Adoption

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

The Lausanne Collegiate School has teamed up with the Anytime Anywhere Learning Foundation to produce next year's Laptop Institute, an academic conference focusing on the adoption of laptop and tablet-based computers in K-12 education. It's designed as a sort of "think tank" for schools looking to adopt laptops and tablets as learning tools.

The upcoming AALF/Lausanne event is the sixth-annual Laptop Institute hosted at Lausanne and will incorporate AALF's 4i Conference for Anytime, Anywhere Learning. According to the organizations, last year's Institute drew some 550 educators from 37 states and 15 countries, while the 4i Conference drew 200 educators and school administrators.

According to a statement released by the organizations, "By combining these two events, AALF and LCS will be able to expand the conference program by providing a rich array of one to one leaders from around the world to discuss a wide variety of issues around anytime anywhere laptop learning. These issues range from planning for schools or districts just considering laptop initiatives to leadership and pedagogy for schools that have had laptop programs for a number of years. A major focus of the conference program will be to highlight best practices among the thousands of schools that currently have laptop programs."

The 2008 Laptop Institute will be held July 13 through 15 at the Lausanne Collegiate School, Memphis, TN. Registration is open, and proposals are due Nov. 30. Further information can be found at the link below.
